on the clock, not the queue
Vireo Room is a small shop built around bookings rather than a waiting list. Chairs are held for forty-five minutes to an hour, which is enough time to talk through what you are growing out, agree a shape, and cut it properly.
Most of our work is scissor cutting, skin fades and beard shaping. If you arrive with a photograph we will tell you honestly whether your hair type and growth pattern will get there, and what the realistic version looks like.
The same barber keeps your notes, so the second visit starts where the first one finished.

Prices are per person and include the finish. Time shown is the length of the chair booking, not an estimate.
Skin fade
Clipper work taken down to the skin with a razor finish at the edge, blended into whatever length you keep on top.

A full cut plus beard shaping: cheek line, neck line, length taken down with scissors or clippers, oiled at the end.

Tidy-up between cuts. Edges reset, length evened out, stray growth on the neck and cheeks taken off.

How an hour in the chair runs
Nothing here is a surprise. If you have not been to a barber in a while, this is the whole of it.

Talk it through
Five minutes stood up, dry hair, before anything is cut. We look at growth direction, the shape you are coming from, and how much time you want to spend on it each morning.

Agree the shape
We name the lengths out loud — guard numbers on the sides, finger length on top, where the weight sits. If a picture will not work on your hair, you hear that now rather than afterwards.

The cut
Wash, then the cut itself with a check in the mirror before the edges are finished. Beard work happens after the hair so the lines are balanced against the new shape.

Finish and notes
Hot towel, styled dry, and a quick run through how to get the same result at home with what you already own. Your lengths go on file for next time.

Three things that make more difference than any product we could sell you.
Know your interval
A skin fade looks sharp for about two weeks and acceptable for four. A scissor cut with length on top holds for six to eight. Book to your interval rather than waiting until it annoys you — the cut is quicker and cheaper that way.
Match product to hair weight
Fine hair goes flat under wax and sits better with a light clay or a sea salt spray. Thick or coarse hair needs something with hold and a matte finish. If you are using more than a fingertip of anything, it is the wrong product, not the wrong amount.
Growing a shape out
Going from short sides to something longer takes roughly three months and one awkward stage in the middle. We can cut through it so the sides and top catch up together — tell us at the first booking and we will plan the steps.

Questions
Before you book
How long should I leave before a first booking?
Book about a week after you would normally get cut. A little extra length gives us something to shape, and it makes the consultation easier because we can see the growth pattern rather than guessing at it.
What happens if I am running late?
Up to ten minutes is usually fine and we will still finish the cut properly. Past that we may need to shorten the booking to the parts that matter most, or move you to the next free chair the same week.
Do you cut children's hair?
Yes, from around four years old. The under-12 booking is shorter and quieter, a parent stays beside the chair, and we introduce clippers slowly. If scissors only would be better, say so in the booking notes.
Can I have a beard trim without a haircut?
Yes — the beard shape and line-up is a standalone twenty-five minute booking. If you want both on the same visit, book the cut and beard so there is enough time to balance the lines against the new shape.
How do I change or cancel a time?
Reply to your confirmation email. A day's notice means we can offer the chair to someone on the short-notice list; less than that is still fine, it just usually means the slot goes unused.
How much length do I need for a fade?
Anything above roughly a grade two on the sides gives enough to blend. On top it depends on the finish you want: a textured crop needs about two inches, while a longer swept shape needs four or more. We will tell you at the consultation if it is worth waiting another fortnight.
